Following the success of RGB Building Supplies’ Christmas Present Appeal last year, the builders merchant is delighted to bring it back and is once again inviting the local community to donate gifts that will be given to families being supported by Children’s Hospice South West over the festive period.

Until Friday 1st December, RGB’s branches in will be displaying Christmas Trees and inviting people to place a gift suitable for a child of any age, or their parents, underneath them. The hospice will then distribute the presents to families in time for Christmas Day.

Four join Fabdec as manufacturer launches new apprenticeship programme

Heating and cooling specialist Fabdec has kickstarted a new apprenticeship programme with four talented young people joining the business.

 

Fabdec, which manufactures heating and cooling products, is looking to support a new generation of engineers and commercial leaders as part of its long-term growth plans.

 

The business will be working local colleges and training providers to develop the apprentices, who are: Tom Rowlands, 19, and Sophie Tyrer 19, (welding apprentices); Daniel Fullerton, 21(engineering Apprentice) and Sophie Jones, 23  (commercial apprentice).

 

All four live within eight miles of Fabdec’s headquarters in Ellesmere, which is home to all of the business’s manufacturing, engineering, commercial and R&D divisions.

Wolseley Plumb Center has announced London Gas Services as the winner of its 2017 Zombie Boiler competition.

 

Zombie Boilers were being targeted by the plumbing and heating specialist during October to raise awareness of inefficient boilers and their costs to homeowners, as well as the effects they can have on the environment.

 

Taking out the warming dead with the most zombie boiler slays, London Gas Services has won four tickets to its very own Zombie Infection experience. Their chosen team will be tasked with exterminating a zombie apocalypse using only instinct and intellect for survival.

 

Professional body warns of rise in Legionnaires’ cases as outbreak claims grandmother of four

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering (CIPHE) has issued a warning on the growing number of cases of Legionnaires’ disease, in the wake of the death of Elaine Brown, a 69 year-old grandmother of four, from Liverpool.

Mrs Brown died in August, following a fatal stroke triggered by Legionnaires’ disease (LD). She had contracted the illness while staying at The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow, Shropshire. It has now come to light that another guest, a woman in her 70’s, had also contracted LD from the same establishment back in April. It is estimated some 10% of those contracting LD die from related complications.
