Limescale: the hard, off-white deposit of calcium carbonate that’s left behind by hard water when it evaporates. It’s responsible for unsightly bathrooms, ineffective heating systems and frequent tradesperson maintenance call outs!

Build-ups of limescale which form on the inside of heating pipes insulate the hot water flowing through and prevent it from heating a property efficiently; while limescale that builds up in kettles, on taps and showerheads not only looks unattractive, but reduces the performance of these appliances over time.

Choosing a bathroom suite that fits your space

bathroom suite

Bathroom suites are an excellent way to fully fit out your bathroom because all the hard work is done for you. Instead of browsing hundreds of bathroom fixtures and fittings to combine perfectly, a bathroom suite comes ready built by experts with matching fixtures.

With that said, it doesn’t mean the difficulty of choosing a bathroom suite stops there. The size of your bathroom can play a huge part in restricting your options when choosing your suite.

So, what can you do to make choosing a bathroom suite easier? Start by measuring out your room and creating an ideal layout. This should give you a better idea of which suites will work best in your bathroom. The next thing you should do is decide on whether you want a traditional or modern suite.

Are chiller pumps hiking up your energy bills?

"Pump operation accounts for 20% of all energy use in Europe”

Once a pump system has been installed, it’s tempting to leave it to its own devices. The equipment can run just fine for years without much observation. But inefficient chiller pumps can be a prime cause of waste: burning energy and putting a premium on your bills.

“It’s not a commonly known fact, but pump operation accounts for 20% of all energy use in Europe,” says Bradley Ford, of pump experts Dura Pump. “And it’s true that chiller pumps are some of the worst culprits for inefficiency. We’ve made it something of a mission to make people aware of that, and to help companies cut that waste right down.”
